Student Nature Groups

Each session is 1x per week for 4 weeks: $160

2 hour walk each week : Location: varies

Groups of 5-6 friends meet after school or summer mornings to: 

  • Practice the art of looking closely at the natural world

  • Learn to identify local plants, birds, insects and animals

  • Explore different ecosystems and trails each week

  • Participate in a habitat restoration project

Nature Walks for Adults

Are you interested in learning more about local plants and animals? Do you love walking in nature and would like to join some like minded people? This may be for you. 

2 hour walk - all levels: Location: varies - $30 per person

In this walking workshop you will: 

  • Practice the art of looking closely at the natural world

  • Get to know local flora and fauna

  • Enjoy the beauty of Bay Area trails.

Nature Identification for Beginners

Using the Seek app in the field to identify local flora and fauna

(2 hour walk- all levels)  $40 per person

In this introductory nature walk, you will learn to use Seek. This free, easy-to-use mobile app is an exciting way to engage your curiosity for the natural world and learn about your local biodiversity. In this workshop you will:

  • Learn the basics of the Seek and iNaturalist apps 

  • Identify plants and animals of your local ecosystem 

  • Start your own photo library of observations 

  • Have fun getting outside and exploring nature 

Ring Mountain - Miwok

Ring Mountain: Nature and Culture

Learning about Marin’s first people 

( 2 hour walk - hills and single track trail)  $30 per person

 

On this hike, you will learn about the first people of Marin-the Coast Miwok. In this workshop you will:  

  • Learn ways in which the Coast Miwok lived in harmony with nature

  • Walk to an ancient grinding stone 

  • See an ancient petroglyph (stone carving) 

  • Learn about Miwok uses for native plants and animals.

Smart Phone Nature Photography 

“The best camera is the one you’ve got with you”- Chase Jarvis

( 2 hour walk - all levels) $40 per person

On this walk, we will:

  • Look closely at the natural world around us

  • Explore strategies for creating photographs that stand out

  • Learn the basics of composition and in-camera editing

  • Find ways to use natural lighting to your advantage

  • Learn to see nature in a fresh, new ways 

Scavenger Hunt

Nature Scavenger Hunt Party

Kids aren’t the only ones that get to look for stuff!   

(2 hour walk -tailored to the group) $200 total for up to 6 participants

 

On this hike, we will:

  • Get outside and use our senses to find what nature has to offer

  • Find and identify a variety of plants and animals 

  • Learn about the local ecosystem in an engaging way

  • Explore nature and have fun with family or friends
